147 - Mule loose ...

Amok busies himself collecting fire wood and making a simple spear, while Meeleek build an impromptu alarm system and Peter starts cooking a meal. Ravn heads off to a quiet corner, and Rolf disappears off on his own to start digging a grave for Corellon. Edgar sits alone talking to the body of Corellon while Elsbeth starts to recriminate with herself quietly and Selina wanders over towards the bushes - eventually collapsing into the bushes. Mandrake seems to find his own corner while Yuri and Callum stand guard over the camp.

Apart from a few words spoken quietly, the party members go their own ways and occupy itself with its own melancholy thoughts.

Even the birds are quieter than normal, as if they sense the mood of the party. A quiet shriek splits the air, and the birds all take flight in panic, The mules rear and whinny and even Laddie cowers behind Elsbeth's legs. One of the mules breaks free of the bushes and heads away from the clearing as fast as it can, while its mate continues to buck against his rein.

A glance up at the sky lets you see a creature flying high above you. It has a long neck, and tail and broad pointed wings , with a scalloped rear edge.

OOC - Just a warning - we have a couple of people away this week.

Amok

Amok hears the shriek and reacts quickly. With his spear and hatchet, he dives into a bush by the edge of their camp. He only looks up as the shadow crosses the camp. ("What manner of beast is this?") he thinks! Gradually he notices that he is in the same bush as lay Selina. He grabs her by the shoulders and pulls her into the bush, as gently as he can! He never notices the mules.

Selina

Selina jerks awake, and grabs Amok by the shoulders, her hands turning into iron gripping claws as she stares at him, wide eyed.

"Madness Follows me...." she says, in a perfectly clear, calm voice," and Death speaks your name, Amok." she laughs, and and still holding the beast man, she suddenly leans back, howls, a screeching noise that sounds half human, half....

otherworldly.

She leans into Amok, almost like a lover, and whispers something to him, quietly. "Soon," she says aloud. "Soon. Death will grip your name in its teeth, Amok, and the heart of your fear, will be in the jaws of the beast of evil..."

Having said this she lets go of Amok, and stares at the party, her eyes a steely blue.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane?

Edgar

The arrival of the winged beast causes Edgar to momentarily abandon his vigil over Corellon's body.

For long seconds he watches the creature, before turning towards Rolf.

"Would that be your dragon ?" he asks.

Oh!

Peter Gasgano

Still concentrating on tending the fire around his cook pot, Peter looks up sharply and the sudden panic in the camp, dropping a burning stick on the grass next to the fire pit.

Finally looking upwards he sees the shape in the air "Oh ...." he says softly, almost transixed by it.

Suddenly aware of his surroundings again, he stamps out the small fire started by his carelessness and returns the stick to the fire, before glancing around the party and then back to the flying creature again

The flying thing doesn't appear to have noticed you and (apparently) isn't reacting to you at all.

Kerim Alakani

With the recent spate of arguments, Correllan's death, the doghead ambush and Selina's less than comforting turn to what appears madness or possession the sight of the winged beast causes Kerim to lose his heart.

With his legs trembling beneath him he makes for the Mule but it is too fast and he too jittery, stumping his toe and sending him sprawling face down in the grass and leaf litter.

Scrambling up with panic and spitting mouthfuls of debris he looks no better than the mule he pursues.

GM: Objective is out of the clearing, trust the instinct of the animal.
