Mule Train Folks First

Kerim forms his defensive circle and everything seems to be going to plan, even though Selina jostles a bit and insists on trying the get down to the front, even knowing that she can barely walk unaided.

The Callum sees the dogheads. And like a greyhound out of the traps, he is off. Screaming his battle cry and swinging his massive Claymore at the large dogs, which he sees as the greater threat. However, the big warrior's charge gives the dogs plenty of warning and, as their keeper slips their leashes, they dodge around the blade and straight for Callum.

Hidden by the bushes, grasping a short length of wood like a club, Amok waits panting as he watches the man who might yet be his saviour.

[OOC - these people can get into melee combat this round]

Edgar Second

Edgar sits a top a small tree growing out of the middle of a bush, where he can see all the action.

The Rest Third

Still some distance away, Rolf and his group spot the rest of the group formed up in a defensive circle. Suddenly Callum screams his battle cry and charges towards a small group of dogheads that appear.

[OOC - these people can not get into melee this round]

The Hounds Attack

Dodging Callum's blow the three hounds leap at the large Celt. Stepping smartly to the side, he manages to avoid the charge of two of the great hounds, but that takes him straight into the path of the third ..

Seeing its opportunity the big dog drives its fangs into Callum's thigh, and then locks its jaws shut!

[OOC Callum takes 3 points of damage, and now has a large dog clamped to his thigh. This means severely reduced movement rate, and -2 to hit and damage until its removed]

Selina kneels down, ignoring the flaring pain, and picks up her blade, cursing softly, before standing up.

Meeleek El'Wakhad

Trying to add to the general confusion and maybe dissuade the dogheads from attacking, Meeleek begins to cast a spell, shouting the magic words and emphasising the gestures needed for the casting. However, the only spell left in his arsenal is of no offensive value-Detect Magic

Amok

** EDITED May 24, 2002, 2:33 pm **

Having hunted for and found a large wooden club (a big stick), Amok leaps from the bushes near Callum, and attempts to distract the two dogs not attached to the Huge Barbarian.

"AYA! AYA! RUNT YOTE'! CATH ME! RUNT YOTE' DOGGRELS! NYA-YA! NYA-YA!", he taunts the dogs and dogheads!

"YOO CANNUT YORE MUTHA CATH! MUTTLEY DOGGRELS! NYA! NYA!" Amok will swing his club at any of the dogs or dogheads that approach close enough to hit. However his chief tactic is distraction, to buy time for Callum to free himself from the one dog attached to his thigh. Amok won't run away, but for the most part, he'll weave and dodge so as to attract the dogs toward him.

Mandrake

** EDITED May 26, 2002, 9:09 am **

Mandrake sees the dogs attack Callum and notes the distraction tactics of those around him.

Then with a shrug of his shoulders he decides that this is the best tactic, certainly better than moving forward to engage dogs and dogheads.

The gnome reaches down to the drawstrings of his breaches and turning his back on the enemy he lowers them as he bends down placing his head between his knees so that he can observe the effect.

He then waggles his rear end as he calls to the dogheads in the orc tongue “Spi, mi fe birtha!”

Edgar

Edgar notes with satisfaction, Callum and the stranger's engagement of the foe, and his beak dips in approval as Meeleek begins to cast his spell, not realising the mage's previous efforts have drained him so that all he can do is hope to scare the dogheads.

Mandrake's contribution, however, gives him cause for concern, perhaps not surprising given the raven's non-familiarity with the litany of offensive gestures and taunts practised by the two-legs. The gibberish that falls from the gnome's tongue does naught to improve matters.

*Has my friend been encharmed by those creatures?* Edgar asks himself, worriedly, his attention now flicking between the dogheads and the gnome.

Peter Gasgano

Having little else to do, Peter shortens the reins on the mules and holds them steady.

His shield and dagger are still held ready, but he moves slightly into the cover of the others.
