Rolf, Ravn and Elsbeth snap at each other as they travel, quickly reshuffling their order in a way that makes them all feel a little more comfortable, while Yuri does his bit to try and lighten the atmosphere. When Edgar spots the metal bars, everyone gathers around them - but no one quite has the courage to take up the bars and examine them. Finally, Elsbeth calls on her gods, almost as if to taunt Ravn, for the power to investigate the rods. She is just starting to shake her head, indicating that the bars are not magical, when a dogs howl splits the air in the distance. Unusual echoes mean that it is a moment before you can pinpoint the noise, but you soon realise it came from the side of the track and behind you… Suddenly you realise that you have Corellon in front of you - and you know there is dogheads there. And Kerim's group behind you - perhaps nearer that howling than you are …

Ravn shakes his head at Rolf's request, quite pleased with the way the King of Gods has so swiftly placed proof of his words before. Nay, Constable, with your choice to rush off so keenly you have denied yourself that possibility... Bitter hindsight will now you teach what godly foresight couldn't. "I, too, am unrested and thus ill prepared for anything but battle." Almost as if the Aesir themselves had decided to favor his words with a befitting challenge, a howling resonates through the surrounding landscape. Ravn's face shows little surprise at the sound of the howling and the dilemma it imparts. 'Twas inevitable - now Gere lurks before us and Freke howls behind - the One-Eyed sends his minions to reward us with peril for our folly! Without a word he turns his attention to Rolf, the Runecaster's eye watching the Constable with a penetrating glare. What will you do now, Rolf? Sacrifice the Alf for the humans? Or save the humans and leave the Alf to his own fate? Or split us up and risk all of our lives? A bitter yet determined smile appears on Ravn's face, and he mutters to his feathered companion: "Well, well, Uddhugg - it seems the Valkyries still hover over us, waiting to make their claim." Then he firms his grip on his spear and prepares himself for whatever comes next.

At the sounds coming from back behind, Rolf closes his eyes briefly. His visage shows a moment of being torn, but then resolution takes it's place. Giving each of you a measuring glance, he shares his thoughts. "I hate to say it, but we have to see after our injuried companions first, and we must make haste." Rolf pulls a cloth from his pouch and drops it over the rods. Thus protected, he picks them up and stashes them in the pouch. He then faces in the direction of the others and sets an impressive pace.

Elsbeth hesitates with the growing tensions, then runs to catch up with Rolf. "Men!" she mutters. "Like strutting roosters, always at each other!"

"Come Uddhugg - to battle!" Ravn, too, does his best to keep up with Rolf, the Runecaster's good stamina and long legs helping greatly.

"Mister Ashengrey, whatever faults you call upon Rolf, he has many qualities you do not; like humbleness and people willing to trust and follow him." "Rolf, allow me to continue on searching for Corellon. I realise this will split us up again but you five", Yuri does not forget to count Edgar or Laddie, "will quickly regroup with the others. Am an no formidable fighter so my absense will not be sorely missed, however if I do find Corellon I will bolster his strength by two-fold. I have confidence Edgar can find me wherever I go."
