129 traps and fires

Rav'n continues his assault on the hapless doghead, as it launches itself at him, claws scrabbling for purchase, teeth going for the throat. As the doghead leaps Ravn's blade catches it across the back, disrupting its attack , however one claw still grazes him (1 Point). Its teeth sink into his arm(3 Points), before it drops to its hands and knees on the floor beside him, ready for one more attack. Edgar sits in his bush waiting for things to happen… As Corellon steps forward and fires arrows towards the doghead leader. The first seems about to strike home - but is deflected away, as if by armour, and the shock of that sends the second arrow well wide of the mark. As Callum suddenly starts to sprint for the doghead leader who has been tormenting him. He runs straight across the scattered leaves in his fury, trying to get to the leader who holds his ground just flicking another of those painful fireballs toward Callum, which h strike him in the thigh (2pts). Swinging around he releases a second at Corellon, striking the floor just in front of him and starting a small fire, however Corellon is splashed by a small amount of the fiery goo. (Corellon 1 point) Yuri trots around the bushes and spots the two dogheads that Peter entangled earlier. Hesitating for a moment. Suddenly he pulls a small tallow sphere, already moulded with arcane powders from his pouch and hurls it towards the nearest of the dogheads. As it flies, he speaks a single arcane word - "BENHOE" - and the sphere starts to sparkle. As it lands, almost atop the doghead, it suddenly blossoms into a 3 foot radius flaming orb, which starts to burn its way into the Entanglement and the hapless doghead.. The doghead screams in fear and agony as it is seared beyond reckoning, and the adjoining plant growth catches fire. Gradually the screams subside as the doghead passes out from the pain. The second doghead's voice joins the cacophony of sound - its words unintelligible - more of a howling than anything but with the pathos associated with a dog whimpering … Elsbeth runs to Ravn's aid while Rolf, Kerim and Laddie all follow Callum's example and head towards the doghead leader. Just then Callum's foot strikes the loose leaves that Corellon thought was trap - and his foot plunges straight through dropping him 15 feet down into a pit. (Callum 5 points damage) The big Celt is stunned for a second or so, but quickly recovers. It is fairly dark in the huge pit, as most of the roof has remained intact - but somewhere close to hand he can hear hissing …

Selina is down. Rolf, Ravn, Kerim,Callum and Meeleek all show significant injuries as well. Laddie, Elsbeth, Edgar, and Yuri display less serious injuries, while every one else remains unharmed.

Bye ...

Alhevro

Yipping sharply to his followers, Alhevro starts to back a way from the battle ....

Here comes the little fella

Mandrake

Mandrake sprints after Rolf, following his command to aid Callum. As he reaches the point at which he lost sight of Rolf (i.e. Rolf’s position as on the map currently) he glances about quickly about and then continues in a straight line through the relative safety of the bushes in front. Stopping as he reaches the relatively clear area the other side of the bushes, Mandrake takes a stock of the situation and sees the familiar figure of Alhevro leaving the scene of carnage.

Mnghrrrh!

Ravn Ashengrey

Ravn snarls back at the unexpectedly resistant doghead gnawing at his arm, then shakes it off and continues his relentless assault. "HRRNNNGGH!" *chopchophacksplatchohacksplatchopgrrrhh*

Kerim Alakani

Kerim sees Callum fall into the pit, wincing with the anticipated pain such a fall would have caused, even to one such as the large man. He then sees the arrows deflect away from the leader and calls to Correllan "Correllan, aim not for him but for his guards, they help make him strong, remove them and you weaken him. And it is better than not at all." Kerim himself runs to the edge of the pit, obtaining something with which to help pull Callum free. GM Branch or discarded polearm weapon. 15ft down, Callum's standing reach 8ft and a bit, me lying down reaching in, about 2ft. So I only have to have about a 5-6ft long weapon or branch to reach. I hope to give Callum enough to grab onto so he can raise himself out of reach of the snakes till someone else comes to help me pull him out. I think I should be strong enough to hold him whilst lying down, and also prevent myself being pulled in. Cross fingers

Fire!

Yuri

Aware of the fire, but unwilling to give the other doghead any mercy, Yuri directs the globe towards the entagled creature.

Oops!

Meeleek El'Wakhad

Meeleek watches Callum disappear with a start. The young mage feels a little guilty, for directing the warrior that way, so he leaves the mules and rushes over to the trap, starting to uncover the pit.

Aw crap
Corellon Amastacia

Slinging his bow, Corellon gives a dejected look before running and disappearing behind the bushes opposite him. Creeping about and flitting bush to bush, while pulling out his short sword, he attempts to get behind the doghead leader, and take a vicious stab at his backside. If it seems impossible to reach him undetected, Corellon sneaks over near Rolf and tells him of the problem hitting the leader.

Hiss Off!

Callum mac Aonghas

Callum lets out a huge scream of anger and frustration at being kept from his enemy. He shakes his head to clear it and then pulls the dagger from his belt and rams it to the hilt into the wall of the pit to create a step. He then climbs on to the step to try and clear some of the litter away, hopefully dislodging a larger branch he can climb as well as letting in more light. It also gets him away from the snakes but he hasn't considered that, so intent is he to get to his enemy.

Shall we?

Rolf

Rolf feels a moments hesitation as Callum locates the trap in his own, unique fashion. But his sense of purpose returns quickly. "Come, let us carry the attack to our tormentors." He leads a cautious approach to the four dogheads, moving around to the "south" of the barrier and clump of bushes, Rolf gives some quick orders. "We'll focus on the two with morning stars first, then move in on the leader." He seems a bit contemptuous of the doghead with the spear. Holding the sword with one hand, he lets the haft of a small war axe settle into his off hand. Truth be told, he'd probably be more effective attacking with the bow from a distance, but who else could lead the others in the attack?

The first step is a doozy ...

Edgar

As Callum continues full pelt into the leaves, it dawns upon Edgar that the warrior has not noticed the trap beneath. The raven opens his beak to call out a warning, but just as quickly closes it again as Callum vanishes from sight into the pit. With the numbers of the opposing forces rapidly diminishing, Edgar eyes the departing leader, watching him carefully in case an opportunity presents itself to assist the party by distacting him. OOC: If such an opportunity arise, Edgar will try to either snatch one of the rods or just claw at the creature's face, whichever is appropriate in the circumstances.

129.5 chaos ...

Mandrake sprints across the open ground and then head straight into the bushes, where his movement rate is slowed considerably. As he gets to the other side of the bush, he sees Alhevro and his body guard moving away from the carnage at a trot. They are currently about 20 yeard s away from him. Ravn, still consumed by his mad battle lust chop's wildly at the final doghead, delivering wound after wound as it sinks to the ground dead. Elsbeth having rushed to his aid can do nothing but watch in awe at the savagery of the unusual cleric's attacks. Meanwhile Callum down in the pit drives his dagger into the side and climbs up on it, waving his sword around to clear a bigger hole in the pit's roof covering. Kerim rushing to grab a sturdy branch lean over the edge, finds himself a short distance away Callum. He starts visibly as he suddenly finds a huge sword waving in his face. Meeleek arrives shortly afterwards, intent on helping clear the pits roof, only to find Callum has already achieved a lot with his sword and that Kerim is already there holding a branch out to the large Celtic warrior. The extra light streaming into the pit reveals a large lizard (about 10 feet long and 4 feet tall) lumbering towards Callum. Corellon looks around quickly and realises that the way between the closest bushes is still blocked, so investigates the bushes for a way through them. It doesn't take but a fraction for him to recognise that while he could find a path through it would be torturous, slow and noisy for one of his stature. Accepting that he heads across to where Rolf has been standing - intent on creeping around the bushed that way, but is interrupted by Rolf's rallying call. As he calls Rolf moves around the bushes readying his sword and axe again, only to find that his nearest troops are some distance behind - all except the faithful Laddie - who has followed him as per Elsbeth's instructions. However the big wolf keep glancing over his shoulder back to where Elsbeth stands, almost stunned to immobility, as she watches Ravn ferocious attacks. Peter meanwhile, stares at Selina trying to work out whether she needs his help or not. Yuri, on the other hand concentrates on his task in hand and slowly the flaming sphere rolls through the entangled area to wards the last doghead. Its creams of fear mingling with the fading screams of pain from the first one as it slowly burns to its death The mules, still tied together by their leading reins, edge slowly away from the spreading fires …. Slowly Edgar takes to the air again, flying high overhead, waiting to see if he can help Rolf's planned attack on the retreating dogheads

lets go ..

Alhevro

Waving his metal bars over his shoulders, Alhevro barks a single command - and a white mist starts to seep from the ground around him ...

healing ...

Peter Gasgano

Finally comming to a decision, Peter bends towards Selina and lays his hand against her forehead. His eyes close in concentration for a moment or two and the palm of his hand grows slightly warm .... (Selina 1 hp back)

Barbecue

Yuri

Statisfied with the death of the dogheads, though strangely not as pleased as he expected, Yuri abandons his sphere in lieu of chasing after Rolf and the fleeing dogheads. Running back onto the path, he sprints down the road.

Crap

Corellon Amastacia

Dropping his short sword and whipping his bow back out with the deftness of his people, Corellon strings his arrows and takes several shots at the doghead leader within the mist, hoping that he is distracted enough to be pelted.

Going to the air

Rolf

Seeing the ground fog rising and the lack of support, Rolf makes a quick decision. He kneels and sets down the blade and axe and quickly readies his bow, prepared to swap back to the sword if the need should arrive. Stringing the bow, he draws a sheaf arrow and aims at the closest (morning star wielding) doghead and lets fly. OOC: Since he needed to string the bow, I'm only giving Rolf the one arrow this round. Attack - 11 Damage - 3

Dambusters

Edgar

Flying low, Edgar sees Alhevro using the bars to summon the mists, and, heedless of his allies loosing of arrows, dives down, accelerating towards the dogheads' leader, claws extended in an attempt to snatch one of the metal rods from the caster ...

One last trick

Mandrake

Breaking cover, Mandrake rushes forward five yards or so, his fixing in his mind the position of the dogheads as he goes, lest they get totally obscured. Then stopping he squats and chants a few words before continuing to speaking. The strangest thing to those who may notice him however is that his though he appears to utter several words, no sound can be heard to come from.

Coming down again

Ravn Ashengrey

Ravn delivers a few more infuriated chops at the mutilated doghead corpse, the pace of striking slowly dropping with each blow. Then, lowering his blood-stained arms, he turns his red-eyed attention to the next apperaing target, snarling grimly between his heavy panting as he sizes the soon-to-be minced meat up for a good angle of attack. But wait - that waving hair looks strangely familiar? Ravn's maddened state of mind dissolves in favor of a milder albeit more exhausted one as Elsbeth's worried visage pulls him back, ever so slowly, from the boiling rage of the berserker to a more tranquil state. Still panting and gasping for breath, he drops to his knees next to the heap of slain opponents, his weapon falling from his trembling hands, only a surpressed moan escaping the clattering of his teeth as the shivering cold of retraction rushes through his body. "...Ohhhhh...din...."

The healer yet again

Elsbeth

Elsbeth's face pales as she sees the murderous light in Ravn's eyes. She involuntarily takes a step back, only gaining her breath as recognition comes to his eyes. Kneeling by the wounded warrior, Elsbeth places a cool hand on his shoulder. "Shh," she tells him. "Get your stength, bonny lad. Ye've done well." She places her other hand over his wound, her eyes closing as she begins to chant in a language not celtic and not common. Her hands glow a moment, then fade as the wounds begin to close...
