127 winning?

The doghead that Callum strikes almost seems to explode on a fountain of blood and gore, as he swings around to face the second, his face now a terrifying visage in its own right. So terrifying in fact, that the attacking doghead, pulls his stroke and steps back a pace, keening in fear. However he raises its battle axe ready to strike again at the next opportunity.

Meelek still plays with the bow, the first arrow catches the shaft of the bow all wring and snaps as it is about the leave the bow, falling in two parts at his feet. The second, however is more accurate and strikes one of the entangled dogheads cleanly. Corellon rises to his feet as peter cast his spell - demanding his bow back, and Meeleek fumbles it across to him, searching for the invisible scout by touch alone. However Corellon's vision doesn't quite clear - although he can make out the shapes of Peter, Meeleek and the mules - anything beyond that is still a blur for the moment- BUT his vision is clearing slowly. Turning back to watch the fray, Meeleek draws his strangely shaped dagger and prepares for the worst, as Peter grabs at the lead ropes of the mules again, which were starting to move away from the little group.

Ravn withdraws his spear and suddenly leaps towards the doghead, taking a blow from its Morning star as he does so (6 Points of damage), but shielding himself from the arrow fired by the dogheads archer companion at the same time. The sudden charge catches the doghead unawares , the spear striking it just below the chest. The impact of that and Ravn weight topples it backward and Ravn falls atop of it, driving the spear straight through it and killing it outright. A successful manoeuvre , although it means Ravn is slow to regain his feet and recover his spear. (big plusses for that attack -2 to hit next round to reflect the time taken to get back to his feet)

Seeing his second shot to Ravn blocked, the doghead archer quickly changes his aim and looses his second shaft towards Elsbeth - but his turn had been too fast and it whistles past her into the bushes as she leaps to Rolf's rescue. Rolf's swing goes wide, but Elsbeth's strikes the doghead cleanly across the back of its neck, as Laddie leaps in, following his mistress. The wolf's teeth find the dogheads leg, and the monster collapses to the floor writhing in agony. Seeing his chance Laddie rushes in and rips the throat from the helpless doghead - its last cries suddenly turning to a gurgle, as its life blood ebbs away

Yuri leaps forward to strike his opponent again, blood streaked falchion held in both hands as he takes an almighty swing. However, the doghead step to one side, and then looks slightly puzzled as its own swing, is deflected away from the poorly armoured bard , as if by magic. Both stumble slightly on the uneven ground but manage to maintain their feet and square off again …

Seeing his doghead entangled by Peter's spells, Kerim drops his bow and draws his cutlass, dragging his katar out with the other hand. The manoeuvre arms him for melee - but he can only get the cutlass clear this round (attack with both next round if you like). Kerim's half blow misses the wolf, with gets another bite onto his keg (3 points). Meanwhile Selina mages to almost decapitate one of the wolves with her battle fans, although the other manages to get through and fasten its teeth into her thigh. The young warrior almost drops, but a superhuman effort keeps her on her feet, fans still twirling, ready to face the continues threat. (Selina 5 points)

As all this is happening Mandrake appears again behind the legs of his friendly doghead, and shows the finger to the doghead searching the bushes for him. Snarling it charges towards its puzzled companion, beating around its legs with its morning star. The two dogheads and mandrake appear to dance, each trying to get in the way - or out of the way of the other. The doghead with the morning star snarling at its companion who throws his bow to one side and snarls back.

Last, but not least, Edgar sees Alhevro shouting towards the doghead fighting Rolf,, jumping up and down and waving his strange weapon in their general direction. He starts a dive towards the spell casting doghead, but pulls out at the last moment as he realises he is not casting but leaping about in anger.

Key
Yellow dogheads have bows.
Light blue dogheads have morning stars, light purple have battle-axes.
The white doghead is looking at Mandrake.
Orange dogheads are wolf handlers and carry spears.
The grey doghead is the leader.
The dark blue dogheadr are dead.
Red speckles are the entangled area.

Rolf and Selina looks the most injured of your party, but Ravn, Kerim, and Meeleek all show significant injuries as well. Laddie, Elsbeth and Callum display less serious injuries, while every one else remains unharmed.

prepares

Peter Gasgano

Still holding the mules, Peter shifts his shield until it is comfortable and draws his dagger.

"We seem to be winning, Coerellon." He calls softly, knowing the scout must be wondering what the hell is going on ...

Elsbeth is my hero!

Rolf

Rolf recovers from his missed blow and prepares to try again. It takes a moment for him to realize that his foe is already down and Elsbeth is his rescuer. He manages to stop his attack, though it throws him a bit off balance and he teeters uncertainly. He tries to smile, but only a grimace touches his lips, "Thanks." he says quietly.

Rolf has the presence of mind to realize that to attack the leader, especially now, would be his death. He looks to Ravn and decides to put his efforts in that direction, "Come on."

OOC: I don't know if Rolf is entitled to an attack or not.
Admin: No. Not this round - it will take the three of you (assuming Elsbath and Laddie join you) a round to get across there. And no I am not using full 1 minute rounds :)

Another day at the office...

Callum mac Aonghas

Callum turns towards the third Doghead, now laughing maniacally and leaps forwards, bringing the sword up in a huge overhand blow.

The doghead lifts its axe to parry but the sheer power of the blow knocks the weapon aside and smashes down into the skull of the doghead, continuing down into the middle of it's chest. Twisting the sword, Callum wrenches it from the dogheads corpse and turns looking for his next opponent...

Birdbrain

Edgar

Noticing that Rolf is unsteady on his feet, Edgar continues to flap and screetch, though well out of the reach of the doghead leader, until the Constable draws closer to Ravn and the concealment of the bushes.

At that time, Edgar will wing away, circling the battlefield in a wide arc, to see whether anyone else is in trouble.

AMOK!

Ravn Ashengrey

Ravn staggers to his feet, leaving the spear in the doghead's chest for lack of thought to retrieve it. Instead he draws the impressive as well as expensive blade hanging at his side and graps the hilt with both hands for another foaming frenzy, this time directed at the doghead bowman who so carelessly neglected to bring himself out of harm's and the berserking norse priest's way while there was still time.

"AAAARRRGGHLL!!! KIIIILLLLL!!!"

White foam sprays from Ravn's mouth to mix with the blood-red streaks all over his upper torso, souvenirs of his recent kill, as the Runecaster hurls himself at the uncautious opponent, swinging his scramasax wildly - nay, insanely - about him, utterly dismissing both thoughts and acts of self-preservation.

"RRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"

Oh man!

Corellon Amastacia

Smiling, although none can see it, Corellon is relieved to hear that we are winning. Hearing what sounds like Ravn yelling, Corellon responds,
"Well, that certainly doesn't sound like losing. Thanks, by the way."
Waiting for his vision to fully clear, as he knows the dangers of firing without clear vision, Corellon remains standing unsteadily, and holds an arrow in his hand, for when he can see.

Yuri

While Callum leaps towards his third opponent, Yuri battles on with his first, still unable to land a killing blow, though fortunately it hasn't done the same.

Following... and more

Elsbeth

Elsbeth nods, not even hesitating to follow Rolf. As she follows, she prays, setting a gentle hand on the man's shoulder. It is something she has never done to him before, but her hand glows with light and for a moment, he hears in his mind the sound of a singing...

Cure Light Wounds

Chucking out time?

Mandrake

As his opponent swings again at Mandrake he side steps deftly once again positioning himself behind his friend, then peeping around the other side of his friend’s legs he pokes his tongue at his aggressor.

And so the dance progresses, aggressor side stepping and lunging, friend moving to interpose and Mandrake bobbing, ducking and coming back with an obscene gesture. Moving this way and that the trio jostle for position, a strange spectacle to any who could see.

Combat ....

Admin

Callum slices his last doghead through in one clean stroke, and it dies with a suddenly cut off howl on its lips. And suddenly the gore streaked monster that was Callum, is left with no opponents in front of him, quickly he turns to scan the battle field, a howl almost to match that of the dead doghead on his lips … Edgar flaps screeching, just out of range of the doghead leader as he jumps up and down screaming and yipping at the irritating bird. Suddenly a stone, lofted by one if the doghead guards, whistles through the air, missing Edgar - but startling him. As the bird turns to fly away, a second stone, lobbed by the other guard, grazes him. (Edgar 1 point damage) the guards and Alhevo jump and shout things after him as he leaves - but he is quickly out of the range for more stones … or so he thinks. Ravn climbs to his feet drawing his heavy blade as he does so, and charges directly ar the doghead bowman, screaming and splattering saliva everywhere. The impetus of his charge takes him almost past the doghead, catching it a wicked slice as he passes. However as the doghead turns with the blow, it fetches its bow stave around like a staff, and clouts Ravn across the back. (ravn 3 points dam) Rolf charges towards Ravn's doghead, shaking his head to try and clear the mists there. However, Elsbeth, running immediately behind manages to touch him with a healing hand from the Celtic gods, and suddenly some of the tiredness drops away from him. Growling deep in his throat, Laddie trots along behind her. Finally Corellon's vision clears an d he sees Peter and Meeleek, daggers drawn and ready to defend them selves, should it be needed. Yuri steps forward and swings a calculated blow towards his doghead's knee, but the doghead leaps to the side. Fortunately though the sudden leap spoils his aim and rather than coming down on Yuri's head, the morning star swings wide - and still the two square off …. Mandrake keeps dodging behind his dogheads legs and the one with the morning star keeps pounding away, until he finally catches the foot of Mandrakes fried. Suddenly all hell lets lose and the two are on the ground rolling around clawing desperately at each other. Selina and Kerim face up to their wolves. One leaps for Kerim , only to meet katar in mid air, striking it cleanly in the face. As it whines and rolls away, Kerim fetches his cutlass down and around, slicing deep into its flank. Not yet dead, it lies still on the ground whimpering. as it lands. The other leaps for Selina - and one of her war fans slices it cleanly - but the maiden is not as luck as Kerim was and the second fan misses its strike. The wolf, leaping for her thriat, lands on her chest and knocks her to the ground. Selina 3 points damage) where she lays unconscious, the wolf standing over her.

Soldier I aint!

Yuri

Yuri curses himself softly as he readies himself for another attack, "Symon would have me washing pots if he saw this..."

Ware, wolf!

Callum mac Aonghas

Callum looks around and sees Kerim and the a woman lying on her back with a wolf standing over her. Not knowing who it is but assuming her to be friendly, Callum screams to try and distract the wolf while rushing over and swinging his sword such that it catches the wolf at it's maximum extension, gouging a large gash in the wolf's flank. Without stopping, the huge celt rushes on past looking for more dogheads.

arrrrrrgh!

Peter Gasgano

Peter drops the reins of the mules and launches himself towards Selina as he sees her fall. Shouting to distract the wolf he tries to charge it with his new shield intending to knock it away from the fallen woman. he strikes the wolf cleanly with the shield, knocking it away from the girl, but seemingly doing little damage. Crouching behind the shield, he tries to protect both himself and the girl. As soon as he is over the girl - Peter starts packing her wounds with poulices from his pouch and wrapping her wound in bandages.

stabilised

Selina start to moan gently as Peter packs and binds her wounds. OOC: Selina stable and on 0 hp

Assisting Ravn

Elsbeth

Grateful that Rolf is looking better, Elsbeth mirrors Laddies growl as she steps forward to assist Ravn. The woman wields her 'Skarlarna,' the scimitar biting into the doghead as she snarls. Hit AC 0, 7 points

Round 4 ding ding!

Corellon Amastacia

Attack 1: 18 Attack 2: 21 Damage 1: 7 Damage 2: 6 Regaining his vision, Corellon remembers the entangled creatures, and pops around the bush, firing off two arrows. Smiling now that his sharp eyesight is back, he readies himself to fire again.

I'm feeling a bit better now

Rolf

The gentle, warming touch of Elsbeth's hand almost brings Rolf up short. He feels a new surge of energy and hope, both of which had begun to fail. He gives her a quick nod of thanks. Turning his attention forward, he slows a Ravn begins his sputtering screams. Rolf had heard of this, thinking that Ravn might very well attack them as the enemy under the rage of battle. But as Elsbeth rushes past him to nip at the doghead, Rolf knows he can't stand idly by. He sees the two dogheads a bit beyond, one with another of those wicked spiked clubs, the other .... The two dogheads suddenly go at one another, clawing and biting at each other. Moving in beside Elsbeth, Rolf brings his blade down in an overhead movement... OOC: Rolled an 11, I don't know if that's a hit or not, so I won't include any details as to the gory results of a hit from the 9 points of damage I rolled.

OOC

OOC: well seeing as Rolf is coming from behind - sort of - and is one of multiple attackes - I think that hits :) please feel free to decribe as much gore you think appropriate :)

Force majure

Edgar

Though his wing is sore from where the stone struck him, Edgar sees Selina fall, and is about to swoop down upon the wolf (though not TOO closely) hoping to scare it away from her and Peter who has come to her aid, when Callum comes charging down the trail. One look at the big warrior speaks volumes of his determination, as he barely pauses to smash the beast aside with one mighty blow, paying the stricken wolf no mind as he casts his eyes around for more dogheads to slay. And so Edgar wings away, searching for a high perch that he might rest his wing, safe from harms way, now that the tide of battle is definitely turning to the party's advantage.

Dreamland

Selina

Laying moaning on the ground with a weapon to each side of her, Selina's wounds slowly begin to heal. Well the process is slow but it's almost regenerative how quickly it's as if she had never been hurt. Further attempts to touch her after her wounds seem to disapear find an invisable barried an inch from her flesh and continueing all along her form. Her soft moans and even softer stiring tell of her strange dreams.

If I may suggest...

Meeleek El'Wakhad

** Not having much to do, Meeleek surveys the battlefield. With a start, he watches the huge, unknown warrior in his beast-like appearance rush to Selina's help, and realizes he must be on their side. " Warrior! The leader is still at large!" He yells, pointing, as he noticing the warrior is looking for more opponents.

Mushrooms, anyone..?

Ravn Ashengrey

The temporary loss of sight of his opponent is of little consequence to Ravn, and the stinging pain from the doghead's counterstrike is a retributive pain completely wasted on the senselessly berserking Runecaster. "...GRRRRRRH..." The hair waves uncontrollably in all directions as Ravn looks about him for his lost opponent. Then he finds him, "ARGH!" - and wild-eyed, he hurls himself around, sword gripped in both hands, cleaving the air with the power of a raving madman. "MWUAHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!"

Kerim Alakani

Not daring to risk a glance back at Callum for fear of leaving himself open to further attack Kerim is stuck with his level of options. 1. Attack the wolf closest to Selina and Peter and risk being trampled by Callum (not good). 2. Attack his own wolf and not get trampled but risk leaving more opponents.(not good) 3. Stick his thumb in his mouth and call for momma. (not an option that impresses the girls). A split second later he opts to take on his own wolf, not wishing to risk the ire of Callum, and besides Peter is already there and three's a crowd. Putting his all into it, especially having seen Selina fall and expecting himself next, he whips up both his weapons in a frenzy bringing them both down angrily upon the furred felon in front of him. Kerim is rewarded with a bone numbing jarring that echoes to his spine as his Cutlass bites deep into bone, being as he is unused to the direct feel that steel weapons give one. With the animal pinned and held he quickly follows through with his Katar (Punching dagger), striking very near the other wound. This rewards the normally meek and timid man with a gout of hot blood that washes warmly up his sword arm, staining the sleeve of his brilliant tunic. With a certain amount of disdain he recoils back, withdrawing both weapons quickly to avoid being covered in any more of the animals blood. "As did the sons of dogs ruin your life by training you to attack us against your will. Today is the day I set you free again." OOC: GM that was my favourite tunic found on last adventure, GM I expect to be recompensed with something new to wear, I'm not a norseman who goes around wearing blooded clothes like a badge of rank or honour. That's a 17 & 16 to hit and a 7 & 5 on damage. Gee, I hope they're whimpy wolves or I'm wolf poo. Apology for absences everyone, I came back from holidays to find my internet account compromised. No fun at all

Witness

Mandrake

As the two dogheads lay into each other, the illusory Mandrake steps away from the afray, just in case they roll through him whilst their concentration is elsewhere. Afterall, there is nothing like real life experience to end belief.
