107 Loot ....

107 Loot .... by Admin

OOC1 - Whoops that's the problem with not working _ I forget which day it is - sorry this post is a bit late.

BIC

Everyone clusters around as the stones and metal disk are examined and then Ravn slides the stones into his bag.

Edgar, alone on his perch in the main hall, hears voices from upstairs but very little else. Yuri standing under Edgar calls up to him. " I shall keep watch for a while - Why don't you go and see what they are up to?"

OOC2 - Please make a note of any items you acquire (and where you got them from) on your character sheets.

OOC3 - Please note that the disk came out of a small bag, although I should have been much clearer with the sizes - it is about 2 inches in diameter and the leather thongs are about 1/5 of an inch wide and only about 12 inches long.

What have we here by Edgar

Edgar, curiosity eating at him, from the conversation he hears from above, gratefully accepts Yuri's offer.

Flying up to where the others are, he perches atop the door, cawing warning as he comes (lest the more wary mistake his approach for that of an enemy).

"Yuri guards," he explains to Rolf, his tone and manner hopeful that the Constable will let him stay, and not order him back to his post.

The moonstones now being in Ravn's possession, he makes no comment upon, however he stares hard at the disk that Kerim holds forth ...

... then shakes his head. "I have neither seen nor heard of such before," he admits, somewhat sadly, "however I would hazard a guess that it is a wrist guard of some sort ?"

Wrist guard by Kerim Alakani

Kerim looks at the disc again after what Ravn had just commented on. Taking off from where Ravn left he offers.

"Four suns indeed could indicate that such is this gods power that to the four corners of the planet that it reaches. Bringer of light to the greatest reaches and the like."

Kerim looks at the disc acutely examining each of the suns for impressions, no matter how shallow, that might be intended places for the moonstones to be fitted.

After Edgar speaks he ties the disc to his wrist.

"Edgar Raven who speaks by the grace of gods unknown to me, know what of you and magics? Of the gods? did also they gift you with the ability to read?"

Holding his arm up to display the disc brightly to Edgar Kerim offers it as a perch, making cooing sounds.

"Other places there are that these straps would allow it's wearing. Try I might to wear it on my forehead."

GM: That would be Kerim still trying his animal handling skills on Edgar, still not sure he isn't just animal. I do know he isn't but Kerim still doesn't really.

The disk by Admin

the sun has one disk and 4 lozenges - sort of the same suit as a diamond from a pack of cards. There is noindication that the lozenges are suitable formounting stonesor anything else.

OOC: Kerim please feel free to describe and roll for and animal handling attempt. :)

A magical moment by Rolf

Rolf spends several moments letting the others conjecture on the amulet or token. He rubs absently at the one hanging about his neck as he lets thoughts roll over his thoughts. Still, nothing of importance comes to mind. He looks to the merchant, "Kerim, if you would be so kind to hold the device until we can pass it to Sir Richard." He hopes that any magic the item might have will help protect Kerim from any ill effects of the needle trap.

OOC: John, what time of day is it?

Time by Admin

Since you have been on the island, you have:-

* Fought the bird woman
* Searched one building in fair detail
* Gone looking for foxes
* Made searches of a another couple of simple buildings
* Made a reasonable search of most of the rooms in this building (without poking all the walls, corners etc)

I guess about 5 hours to achieve that ...

So its about Lunch time :)

Shiny thing! Hmmm, Hungry! by Callum mac Aonghas

Callum looks over the trinket with passing interest until his stomach rumbles loudly.

"Peter, that was a fine kitchen we found there, I'm after thinkin' that ye might make some use of it!" he hints, unsubtly.

seems good .... by Peter Gasgano

Peter grins. "OK by me. What do you say Rolf?" he asks. Then adds as an afterthought, "I could do with some help collecting some fire wood. I could use some of the old and damaged furniture, if someone will break it down for me.

Disks and dinner plates by Mandrake

Mandrake takes the disk in his turn and thoughtfully turns it over in his hands. With a shrug he makes to hand it to Kerim, but then a thought crosses his mind as he looks once again at the strange markings on the leather ties.

“Doesn’t look like writing” he mumbles to himself “but there’s one way to be sure.”

Waving his hand over the disk he chants an incantation (OOC: comprehend languages) and then takes another look.

Then, passing the item on to Kerim, Mandrake pipes up "Yes food. What a splendid idea."

Something different? by Elsbeth

Hanging back and still worried and wondering if her magic did any good for poor Kerim, Elsbeth's eyes light up with the mention of food. "Aye, to be doing something other than grubbing from house to house, room to room?" She smiles. "I'd be liking that."

Lunch time by Rolf

"Aye. Peter, where would you like to set up, here or the manor house?" Rolf replies, becoming aware of the complaints from his belly. "Callum, Ravn, would you two help Peter with the fire wood?"

Noticing Mandrake's spell work with the disk, Rolf asks, "Did you learn anything?"

Here's a thought... by Ravn Ashengrey

Ravn, accustomed by his training to postponing the needs of his body in favor of stiating his mind's cravings, just shrugs his acceptance at the general sentiment to do lunch.

I suppose nothing demands our immediate attention. We might as well grab a bite to eat...

"As you wish, Constable."

He wanders off in search of kindle, summoning Uddhugg with a raised hand and debating, mumbling, the recent events with the bird as they go.

"The dwelling seems, indeed, abandoned. Now, what of our findings? A Gudahov, a Lord's residence, both to be expected but much different from what I would have expected at home - that's nothing unexpected, either. But that it should all be set in such a diverse setting suggests that this unison of peoples as the Earl has undertaken be not unprecedented in history - are there lessons to be learned from their downfall, I wonder? Lessons that we must bring to the remembrance of the new alliance? Probably so."

The bundle of dry twigs fills his free hand, spear in the other, so Uddhugg is forced to move onto the rune caster's helmet, cawing now and then as if in response to his spoken thoughts.

"And now these artefacts - their purpose is every bit as obscure as their use?"

He sets the spear into the ground, ties the kindle to the shaft, and retrieves the stones from his pouch, studying them carefully once more.

"Hmm - maybe the temple holds the proper place to mount them...?"

He nods his head thoughtfully, satisfied with having this new possibility to examine, and returns to the others woith the kindle. Laying it near Peter, he states his intention to Rolf.

"Constable, I have a hunch and will go verify it in the temple. I shall return in a moment."

Then, determined, he strides toward the temple.

In the kitchens ... by Peter Gasgano

"These kitchens here look as good as the others, and they are somewhat smaller, so it would be as easy to to cook in here, as back in the other building."

So saying Peter heads back down the stairs to the kitchens, commenting "Lunch Time!" with a grin to Yuri on the way past.

In the kitchen, Peter takes a look around and clears out a smaller fire place in preparation for the wood that the others will bring him and then head down to draw water from the well. The rope and bucket are clearly old, but the rope holds while he draws water, and he cleans one of the larger pots out with the small amount of water he can draw in the leaky bucket.

He then fills it slowly, needing half a dozen attempts, with the leaky bucket, to get it full.

Carrying it back upstairs we washes out another couple of wide, flat, pans and a smaller pot in preparation for cooking.

When Ravn returns with the kindling he lays it in the fire place, and uses a couple of larger bits of wood remaining from the older fires, to make something more substantial. Striking a light, he works on the flames fanning and blowing untilthe fire is properly started and then rearranges it so that he will get a good cooking fire later.

Then going to the door, he calls up to the others - "Be about twenty minutes before I have anything ready ...." Before going back into the kitchen to scrub down a table and some other utensils that he might need.

Ravn ... by Admin

please let me know what you want to try in the other building - if its brief - we can run it in this thread else I will start you a new one

Bird brain by Edgar

"No, not a wrist guard, for it is too small even for that," he comments to Kerim, "It might wrap around a finger ..."

Further speculation is cut short.

Edgar listens with growing annoyance and fixed stare to Kerim's unwittingly patronising noises and gestures, and for a moment considers alighting on the trader's wrist and demonstrating why falconers prefer heavy leather gauntlets ... but decides not to, as Rolf calls for a lunch break.

"Aye, maybe it is some sort of brain guard," he mutters at Kerim's final comment concerning the wearing of the token upon his forehead, "though perhaps in the case of that one, it would still be a bit big ..."

Frown by Kerim Alakani

GM; Edgar offline has made it very clear to me he won't be the subject of any animal handling attempts, however for the games sake Kerim is fascinated as to where the distinction lies and will soon enough give up his tests. I am sure he's seen birds trained to talk, though none that think so well.

Kerim frowns at Edgar, his jaw clenching, not being used to being insulted by animals.

However he knows not to insult the bird back, for to do this would insult others he travels with too.

His thoughts on how best to deal with this vexing raven are interrupted however as mention is made again of the poison needle, which his conciousness has conveniently and naively blanked from his mind in the presence of treasure.

With a start he checks his finger, no blood there. He breathes deeply a few times, his eyes darting with some worry. Finally he turns to Elsbeth.

"Wonder I do what is the usual delay that your magic grants the recipient upon being poisoned?" he asks, both hope and worry showing together.

"For if it's warding has since now normally passed then it seems I am safe." he says letting a small smile escape.

"If not then let me thank you with my gratitude in such case as the worst shall yet come and I have not the opportunity to thank you later"

Kerim bows to Elsbeth, taking her hand and kissing it. (hoping this custom he's seen used is appropriate to the Druid)

OOC: Hey, he's trying to fit in by learning different cultures.
