92 The Square Building

johnb (Admin)

The casual exploration of the two round buildings reveals nothing of great interest, and Rolf calls the party back together in front of the square building. The door and part of the roof has collapsed leaving piles of rubble in the doorway but the rest of the building clear. To your surprise, the building is really just one large shell. There are two smaller rooms at the far end - the doors of which have rotted and fallen off and a single flight of stairs leading to the flat roof over the smaller rooms. You cannot see far into the small rooms from the door. You can see what look to be a dozen empty crates stacked against the wall and what look to be a couple of barrels on the upper level. OOC Off to France for a few days - back on Friday. Feel free to play amongst yourselves.

Return

Kerim Alakani

Kerim listens with interest Zhiri's naivity of the normal routine of life, storing this information for reference. He offers to Mandrake and Edgar "Indeed a trade post one could say. Cultures gathered upon a large market place before a port." Kerim indicates the open space behind them and the arrangment around it which the buildings have been placed. "Abandoned after but a short time I think, why of course are there no shrines nor buildings of office. Mandrake perhaps shall be rewarded with the discovery that most whom lived here dwelt under the earth." Kerim, Scimitar still unsheathed, treads lightly forward into the ruin commenting to Rolf "Efendi, I will scout"

OOC: Kerim goes off on a search through the building, expecting to find little, but still wary none the less.

Not from around here

Zhiri

"Oh no," Zhiri beams brightly at Peter, completely comfortable with her ignorance. "My family don't even have an estate in the country. So I spend... I used to spend most of my time in the markets with my mother, or at friend's houses. This is the first time I've been away from home."

Common coin

Edgar

"'Birds of a feather'," Edgar quotes to Kerim, "I suppose trade is a common cause that would pull together those of wildly differing cultures." The raven casts his glance around the gutted building, but shows no inclination to leave Mandrake's shoulder.

Trade

Mandrake

"Quite so, in my opinion there are few things that bring folk together. One is to trade, and another is I fear to war. "The funny thing is, that in the case of conflick it can quite often be caused by the desire to make things change hand. "Ah well, let us wait to see what our trader makes of this building."

An unsure Rolf

Rolf

Unsure of allowing Kerim to explore on his own, Rolf nods. "Call if there's need." He orders. Moving back to Madelyn's side, he finds himself at a loss for what to say to the warrior woman. He decides to content himself with her presence.

In the building

johnb (Admin)

Kerim enters the building and stands just inside the door, there is nothing more to see from there. Treadli lightly he continues to explore the build - noting the piles of debri by the door and other minor piles of rubbish. Apart from the barrels and crates there is nothing more to see, the whole area is completely empty. He finishes up at the ladder leading up to the mezzanine floor.

First time ...

Peter Gasgano

"Your first time away from home - and you finish up here? What do your parent think of that?" asks Peter slightly bemused. Hearing the conversation between the others Peter joins in "This place used to be the home for a group of warriors similar to Madelyn's order, but dedicated to defending the old Galinia. It was deserted when the land fell ..." then he trails off quietly, waiting for Kerim to report back.

Anything to hit yet?

Callum mac Aonghas

Callum stands around waiting to see what happens. He shouts over to Rolf. "Will I go and see if I can help the lad?"

Watching, waiting

Elsbeth

Elsbeth watches as the searches continue. She remains near the rear of the party, doing her best not to watch Rolf and Madelyn. Indeed, she watches about her and the others. Houses such as this are not so strange to her, yet part of her wonders why they bother... or why they are so suspicious.

Sure, go ahead

Rolf

At Callum's shouted question, Rolf turns to look at the warrior. He nods his approval, his thoughts on other matters.

Where were we..?

Ravn Ashengrey

Having abandoned the apparently fruitless search of the round houses, Ravn joins the others by the square building, hoping they are faring better in their search. Even from a distance, they seem to be, so Ravn decides to keep his distance and observe his fellow explorers for a while. The cook, the maid, the gnome and the strange speaking raven seem to be engaged in some sort of bored debate on ancient culture while the southern trader has entered the ruin followed by the Celt warrior. The dog-towing druidess stands a little away watching the fallen paladinette and the Constable as they exude uncertainty and insecurity towards each other. They need their time to talk this out... The rune caster closes his eyes, a scene of snow quenching a sleeping landscape before his inner eye. He opens his eyes again and walks over to Rolf and Madelyn. "Good sir Constable," he begins, "the daylight is dear, nightfall nears and we should not idle so." He points back to the main building. "Lest I be mistaken my wild goose chase led us astray from a promising venue, and if you would let me I would take a party and finish the search there; Mandrake for his proclaimed skill with locks, Peter for his knowledge, and Elsbeth for her wisdom and her dog's keen nose. What say ye, Constable?"

Ladder

Kerim Alakani

Not to be outdone for reasons of absence. I had a small family crisis, and had to chase up some rellies. Kerim, at the foot of the ladder, turns to Rolf nods his OK of the area and the continues the mime to pose the question as to wether he should ascend the ladder.
