36 Mistaton

ThorsDay 21 Mai 593 Sliver Moon (waxing)
Temp Warm
Cloud 0 %
Weather Dry
There is a Moderate wind from the SE
high tide is at 01:15 and 13:40

You wake and breakfast and make you daylight inspection of
last night’s battlefield, noting the glowing ball and fallen
butterfly wings.

It does not take long to repack the mules and prepare the
other animals, and before long you are on your way. As you
travel you notice the land is still very damp. In the
relief of getting out of the depths of the swamp yesterday,
you hadn’t noticed quite how damp the ground still is. Away
from the path the ground still shows some of the signs you
would associate with the swamp. There are fairly regular
pools of standing water, and tufts of that spiky grass that
loves the wet ground, as well as other damp and water loving
plants and bushes.

After three or four hours travel you spot Mistaton and half
an hour later you arrive at the gates of the village, which
are standing open in invitation. There is a small crowd
gathered inside the gates to watch you enter the village and
one man, dressed in the ubiquitous blue and white striped
dolman stands forward to meet you. First he places his
hands together in front of his forehead and bows slightly I
you direction.

"Greetings high ones, may the blessings of the lore giver
ring forever in your ears. I, Rami Ben Affah, welcome you
to our town."

Suddenly a small cheer breaks out and then the crowds start
talking amongst them selves and gradually starts breaking
up. As you watch the people go you notice that many of the
men are wearing simple dolmen with fez’s similar to Rami Ben
Affah’s and the women are wearing similar costume. There
are many more halflings than you would expect and although
some wear zacharan style clothing, many wear more
traditional clothes. Many of the clothes seem to feature
blue and white stripes.

Country Boy!

By malc
who plays Callum

Callum looks around uncomfortably. At least this village was smaller then the previous towns, but it was still big enough to unsettle him. He is happy to follow Rolf's lead while out of his element.

Back to civilization

By lechrist
who plays Elsbeth

Elsbeth breathes a sigh of relief as they enter the city. With all the trials and confusion of the trail, she longs for a soft bed and real food. She smiles, already anticipating sleeping on something other than hard ground.

At the greeting, she looks about with interest. She wonders at the very strange clothing, but imagines they find her as strangely dressed. As she looks again, her eyes rest briefly on Madelyn, hoping the warrior woman is feeling better.

The village people....

By Brad
who plays Rolf

As they approach the village, Rolf relaxes somewhat, assuming that the dangers of the trail are behind them for the moment. A well grown forest is a joy to behold, but the swamps.... All that muck and mire, slowing travel and hiding Uller knows what.

Leading the others on into the town, he stops as Rami Ben Affah welcomes them to the town. Rolf nods in response, "Our thanks, friend. I am Rolf Leifson, envoy for Richard, Earl of Galinia. We carry with us his good wishes for you and your people." He pauses, remembering the stench of the swamp that must still cling to them, "Forgive my haste sir, but where might we best enjoy the hospitality of your fair town?"

To The Cup

By JohnB

Rami bows slightly and sweeps his hand around i gesture showing you toward the centre of the village. "Our inn is called The Cup, and can be found in the centre of the village"

Moving on you follow the pathway past a number of turf huts untill you reach a larger, spawling, building with a grassed area in front. The building is single storey and made of stone reinforced turf, but has a pole outside with a single wooden cup hanging from it.

The door way to the building is open, and inside you can see a large, fairly dark, room with a number of simple tables and benches. A Halfling in a dolman is sweeping the floor inbetween the tables.

The Cup

By Jim
who plays Smilo Hairfoot

Smilo beats his broad brimmed hat against his thigh,
sending up a cloud of dust. "Dunno bout the rest o ya but
I'm in dour need o a drink."

Once inside, to the floor sweeping hobbit, "you there!
Where can a fellow find somthin to wet his whistle?"
He climbs up on the bench, sits with a mighty groan an
leans back against the wall.

Civilisation?

By Ian
who plays Peter

Peter walks along happily. Even though the ground is still soggy and damp it is good to be away from the real swampland. However his smile fades as he sees that the poor ground continues right up to the village, and he frowns occasionally as he he sees the way the crops are growing on the few small plots of reasonable land.

Trade?

By David
who plays Kerim

Kerim looks round at the village wandering what possibilies there are for trade (if any). He asks Rami Ben Affah where he can put the mules and store the trade goods.

Excellent idea

By Daren
who plays Mandrake

Smilo beats his broad brimmed hat against his thigh,

sending up a cloud of dust. "Dunno bout the rest o ya but

I'm in dour need o a drink."

"Never a more succinct turn of phrase could I hope to hear to describe my own feelings" replies Mandrake as he eyes the buildings before them.

Noting the puzzled look on Smilo’s face, he smiles and adds "we are of the same mind my dear fellow.

Patting Smilo on the back, Mandrake says "Let us see if we cannot get a drink or two out of these locals by way of payment for our tales of the adventures that we have been through on our travels in this land.

"If you do the talking, I can create a fairly good replica of those foul Dogheads with an illusion, to add to the narrative, you know, tweak their interest to the fullest.

"After all, I spent enough time dragging the thing along to remember what it looked like" and then adding in quieter tones and a nudge with his elbow and a wink, "though I cannot be sure if I’ll get the size right. Size and teeth, I often get them too big, but then it all ads a little zest."
