18 Nearly ready ...

By JohnB

After various activities around the area…

Mandrake has collected an impressive pile of goodies, There are 5 large sections of chain mail, and a few pieces of studded leather that the dogheads have been using as armour, there is a long bow and 5 Sheaf arrows and 4 large, spiky, clubs. There are another 3 died bone rings, a silver earring and a set of 5 bone dice.

Madelyn and Peter have arranged the body of Aenis on the last mule, and the bodies of the dead dogheads and wolves have been deposited in the bushes.

Rolf, Elsbeth and now Peter are all gathered around the unconscious doghead, currently stripped of armour and possessions, and lightly bound.

Peter has just observed that the doghead is too large for the Mules and has offered to try and get it walking.

Smilo, on watch, has seen nothing out of the ordinary.

Closer to leaving....

By Brad
who plays Rolf

At Peters offer, Rolf nods. "Yes, if you think you can, give it a go. I don't want to stick around here much longer." Moving over, he sees Mandrakes collection. "Good job, Mandrake. Your efforts will help usher Aenis into the next life." Picking out the five sheaf arrows, Rolf adds, "But I think these might better aid the living." He slips them into his quiver.

Before Peter can rouse the doghead, Rolf speaks up. "Wait! Tie his ankles together. Leave enough slack for walking, but this one isn't running away."

Nearly ready herself

{Still time-warping...}

Elsbeth nods at both the leader's decision and Peter's assistance. She still faces Callum, having said her piece. To be sure, the fierce warrior both frightens and fascinates her. She hopes he isn't offended by her words, yet she has no intention of backing down.

Dogheads, bah...

By Ian
who plays Peter

Peter leans down over the prone doghead and examines the wounds, Then kneels down next to it and feels the swollen temple. Placing one hand across the bruised area, he holds his breath and concentrates for a few seconds, then rises to his feet and stands quietly. "That should do the job, it won't be fit but it should be able to walk under its own steam".

Awake

By JohnB

After a moment or two the doghead starts to stir, it opens its eyes and sees the three humans looking down at it. It struggles to stand and then realises that it is bound hand and foot. It groans quietly and then lays still, its eyes darting from side to side.

Civilisation? My arse...

By malc
who plays Callum

Callum looks down at Elsbeth. "Ye're after having no idea how to perform the ceremony, are ye? and forbye, ye may not have noticed but we're not exactly in your 'Civilisation' the now. Ach well, ye're still a Druid for all that. When ye're seeing somewhere fit for your 'civilised' ceremony, I'll be about. I wouldna be surprised at all if I've danced wi' the ould battle crow many's the time afore the end o' this road, so ye'd do well to find a body who can teach ye the proper ways o' your craft."

Callum picks up the heads and wanders off to the edge of the area, shaking his head gently. There, using a dagger, threads the heads on to a piece of leather by puncturing them through the ears, and hangs the string of heads from his belt. He inspects his handiwork and then wanders over to the group surrounding the captive Doghead.

Not in civilization

By lechrist
who plays Elsbeth

Elsbeth pales at Callum's words but remains silent. She can't help but watch in horrified fascination as he threads the heads and hangs them. She shakes her own head, feeling like a child again.

*I'll be learning from that lad, I think,* she decides.

Belatedly realizing that she was ignoring the others, she looked at Rolf. "Enough of that, I suppose. If you be ready, the wolf and I are ready as well. Shall we be away?"

Head 'em up, move 'em out...

By Brad
who plays Rolf

"Mandrake, stow that stuff on the mules. Alright," he calls out, "Let's put some distance behind us. Madelyn, Mandrake, he's in your charge." He motions at the injured doghead. He hopes he's doing the right thing. After all, the other one got away. But they've got to have a chance to make up for it and I've got to find out if they can't handle it, then I need to know as soon as possible.

"We'll get a few miles from here. Then we'll find some place to hole up and tend to Aenis. And, of course, question our captive. Same order as before." Rolf sets a fair pace, an easy enough pace for him but one which is meant to put some distance between them and the battle ground quickly.

Leaving

By David
who plays Kerim

Making sure Aenis's body is secure, Kerim will place all the unclaimed Doghead goods on a mule for inspection later (making sure the mules are safely loaded - the clubs are loaded so the spikes cannot injure the mules).

He will try an experimental swipe of one of the large, spiky clubs and decide it is not a suitable weapon for a trader.

He quickly prepares the mules for travel and follows Rolf leading the mules.

He keeps an eye open for the Doghead who escaped while keeping a wary eye on the captive.

Watch

By Jim
who plays Smilo Hairfoot

Smilo draws circles in the dust with his big, hairy toe. He wished they'd get moving. He hummed an old ditty:

There were two young ladies from Orvisham
And this is the story concerning 'em.
They acted improper
By biffing the topper
Of the Prefect as he was confirming 'em.
But the Prefect was nobody's fool.
He had been to a large oulde school.
So in but moments flat
He replaced his top hat
In a manner both jaunty and cool.
But that failed to impress the bad two.
They said, "Prefect your hat is askew.
Our priest is greater
Since his hat is much straighter
That the one on the topmost of you."

Ready

By Daren
who plays Mandrake

Mandrake hands the booty to Kerim to pack on the mule.

He then moves over to Smilo and says quietly "I’m not sure if they or Callum are more of an animal. I’m glad at least that we are not fighting him."

When they head out, Mandrake will have a rope around the Doghead’s neck, with a slipknot in it and the other end tied off to the saddle of the mule. He’ll then ride with his sword in his hand.

He calls out to Rolf, I’m not sure that they can all speak Orcish, the other one did but I get the feeling he was something more than average, I’ll try to get what I can out of this one though.

Off we go

By Sharon
who plays Madelyn

Madelyn, will stay close to Mandrake and the hostage, with lance ready for a charge if he makes a run for it.

"Keep an eye on that fallen comrade of ours Peter, I don't want him to come to anymore harm, before we can give him the burial that he deserves"

"You got that right," replies the hobbit.
