B= Bird Woman Thing
E=Elsbeth  M=Madelyn   r=Ravn  C=Callum
R=Rolf   m=Mandrake & Edgar  Y=Yuri
Z=Zhiri   P=Peter   K=Kerim    SS =Statue

Rolf's second arrow thuds into the Bird-Woman's leg, and
suddenly her song changes. From being gentle and serene and
sweet it changes to a song of pain, anger and agony.
Elsbeth, Madelyn and Ravn, already under the effect of the
Bird-Woman's song, fall to their knees in agony as, from
Madelyn's perspective, the beautiful angel turns into an
avenging Angel.

Suddenly moving much faster, she flies over the top of
Callum and dives into attack Rolf, still screeching her now
painful song.

OOC

Saving throw vs magic for all those who have not already
made one. Modifiers +1 for Edgar's distracting carks, +1
if you have a rag around your ears, +2 for cheese (and the
risk of cheese mites) in your ears.

No time for anyone else to cheese or bandage their ears.

Callum can get one attack as it flies over its head.

Those who have a weapon to hand can get a single
attack in - so long as you have a missile weapon or
a weapon with a suitable reach.

I am going to make the bird-woman's attack on Thursday.

The Pain

By Sharon
who plays Madelyn
[Edit]

Madelyn immediately stops floating, and unconsciously releases her grip from Elsbeth and her hands go straight to her ears, a look of complete agony on her face as she shrinks to her knees.

The pain is almost unbearable.

Unbearable

By lechrist
who plays Elsbeth
[Edit]

Elsbeth cries out as the song changes, her hands going to her ears. From the beauty to the anger is almost more than she can bear as she drops to her knees.

The screeching menace

By Brad
who plays Rolf
[Edit]

As the arrow sinks home and the bird woman's song turns to screech, Rolf reaches quickly for another arrow. He sees Kerim's offer of cheese, but there's no time.....

OOC: John, does Rolf get another arrow attack? Saving Throw vs. Magic +1 is 5.

ouch!

By Imogen
who plays Zhiri
[Edit]

Zhiri draws a slender dagger from the sleeve of her silken dress, dropping it into her palm as she watches the hideous thing approach.

Yuri hears her giggle slightly nervously, as she glances at the others, her dark eyes wide with anticipation and a little fear now.

"Hurry back, Ishar," she murmurs softly.

[ooc: 15 on the saving throw]

Saving throws -

By JohnB
[Edit]

Rolf sinks to the floor dropping his bow and the arrow he was about to noch.

OOC - So no extra arrow for Rolf. Zhiri saves but the little guy hasn't come back yet.

Ow!

By Ian
who plays Peter
[Edit]

Peter has his shield up in front of him and his dagger in hand as the thing approaches. He is rearing back to throw the dagger when the song really encompasses him. Dropping the dagger, he collapses, writhing, to the floor with his hands clamped over his ears.

They don't like it up em...

By malc
who plays Callum
[Edit]

As the creature dives over his head to attack Rolf, Callum leaps and stabs upwards with his sword, which plunges into its' breast. Callum twists the sword and allows his forward momentum to tear the weapons' point out of the beasts' body, then turns to chase.

OOC:16 to hit, 10 points of damage.

Bonus round

By Daren
who plays Mandrake
[Edit]

OOC: Made it, with the help of the gnomish bonus for magic resistance and Edgar's squarking that is.

Mandrake stands motionless on the jetty.

In the air the eagle, it’s first strike spoiled by the sudden dive of the creature, converts its own attack into a steep climb as it converts at least some of the wasted energy.

Banking steeply at the apex of this manoeuvre, the eagle folds it’s wings back at the middle joint and drops out of the sky in a stoop aimed at the creature.

Extending it’s wings at the last minute for control, the great talons reach forward to slash at the thing as it’s tail dips slightly for stability. (OOC: rolled 17 for the bird strike this time ;-)

Argh! My ears!

By Dogowar
who plays Ravn
[Edit]

Ravn is forced to his knees by the ear-splitting shriek. OOOOODIN! MAKE IT STOOOOOOP!

So much for that idea...

By jase
who plays Yuri
[Edit]

All of Yuri's preperation comes to naught, and he to succumbs to the anti-singing of the creature. Dropping to his knees, groans escape his lips as he tries in vain to crawl away from the thing while still clutching his ears in agony.

Fluttering ....

By JohnB
[Edit]

The Bird-Woman intent on punishing Rolf for his attack on her dives straight for him, completely misjudging Callum's height and reach as she does so. The large warrior's claymore takes her completely by surprise as it slices in to her.

Her flight starts to falter slightly and then the gaint eagle flashes past, barely grazing her with a claw, and she appears to lose contro, completely.

Crashing to the floor at T26 she changes her song of pain to a screech of pure terror. So loud is this screech that you can feel it reaching into your minds and overwhelming your sense.

Just at that moment Zhiri's little friend appears and perches on her shoulder before whispering something to her.

OOC: Those already ensorcelled are automatically stunned for 3 rounds :) those still standing need to make another saving throw vs spells to avoid the effect.

The pain...

By Dogowar
who plays Ravn
[Edit]

The sound of the siren's screech drives through all Ravn's five senses like red hot ice picks. The screech subsides, the sound of a thousand drowning men begging mercy of a cold-hearted ocean god now echoing through his tormented mind.

At last !

By Imogen
who plays Zhiri
[Edit]

Zhiri chuckles with pleasure and points her finger at the bird woman, her eyes still fiery with excitement as bright missiles fly from her fingertips to strike the horrid creature in the breast.

Dat hurt ....

By Ian
who plays Peter
[Edit]

Peter screams once, slumps forward and becomes both still and silent.

Oh dear!

By Daren
who plays Mandrake
[Edit]

As the eagle streaks past the creature and her scream fills the air, Mandrake's legs appear to crumple and he collapses to the ground. As he does so the great bird flies into nothingness, dissipating into the very air.

A warrior felled

By Brad
who plays Rolf
[Edit]

Rolf feels the bird woman's angry song leaving furrows along his mind and the pain begins to blur his vision. Then he sees Callum's strike and the thing crash into a heap rather short of her targer, Rolf. The screech echoe's painfully in Rolf's ears, in his mind. Dropping the bow and arrow, both hands clasp about his ears, trying to find some refuge from the pain. Slumping to the ground, Rolf's legs come up to his chest, leaving him lying in a fetal position and praying to Uller for release from the throbbing pain.

Give me rock and roll any day

By Skald
who plays Edgar
[Edit]

The pain and anger in the Bird-woman's cry breaks down Edgar's defenses completely, the discordant note of his own cries now blending with the vengeful song of the creature ...

And then, as her song turns again, this time invoking such dreadful terror and fear, it overwhelms the raven and, even as Madrake collapses, he raises his wings to take flight, mirroring the Bird-woman's panic ... though his body refuses to obey him, and he too falls to the ground, in a flurry of quivering feathers.
