59a water and warnings

By JohnB

Callum, Flea, Smilo and Edgar are all close to the unconscious Mandrake.

Most, if not all, of the bodies are piled and a grizzly sight they look too. There are many heads set on spears and spiked clubs - a clear warning to any other dogheads that might venture this way.

Rolf and Elsbeth go looking for water, and not only find some swampy areas with clear, still water - but also find that just over the rise and through the bushes is a pebble beach. It leads down to what is either a large lagoon or lake, and they can see land on the other side of the water.

Still waters run diseased

Rolf looks over the area, frowing. The sickening feeling of being lost is something new to him and it was a bitter cup to drink. And now, seemingly clear water in a swamp. He'd been taught to distrust the purity of slow moving water. Maybe a fire, boil it clean, but that's problematic wihtout cookery. Still, there are ways. Shrugging, he looks to Elsbeth, ""What say you, Elsbeth?"

Gnome alone

Edgar looks with concern at Mandrake as he lies on the makeshift stretcher, hopping up on one of the wooden spears/poles that support the sling.

"This one rests uneasily," he says, head bobbing in agitation, "as if he fights another battle, in his dreams."

He raises his beak to look at the others. "I fear he will die there unless we wake him."

"From the air I spied a wall of sorts nearby ... that betokens a town or fort, does it not ? Perhaps there we might find someone who can help ?"

Unsure

Elsbeth looks at the water, unconsciously standing close enough to Rolf to almost be touching him. "I'm not being too sure, though usually still water looks ill." She dips a finger in it, then tastes it. "It might be good, and if the others are not finding us, we'll want for water more than anything else."

OOC: I'm guessing on this one. Elsbeth doesn't have her spells but might know something about water. Give me a call on this, John?

Clear Water

By JohnB

As Elsbeth looks at the water she realises that it is still but not stagnant, it tastes flat and uninteresting - but it is safe.

OOC: Identify pure water is a granted power and the equivalent of a innate ability, so it still works. Only spells, which have a component that needs retaining mentally, are lost on unconciousness.

Elsbeth nods. "The water is fine, if a bit dull," she replies in relief. "I've nothing to carry it with but mayhap we can fashion something or bring the others here." She sighs. "I don't like being lost..."
