55b Over Night Camp

By JohnB

Herloch, Peter and Madelyn settle down by the fire - but find sleeps comes hard to them. Rather than sleeping they lie there tossing and turning- every time they start to doze, memories of the hunt come back and jerk them awake.

Peter and Yuri, supposedly on guard duty, seem to have an easier time of it - at least they don't have to pretend to be sleeping….

The rest of the night goes quietly but seems to drag on for ever. At first light you rise - all a bit grumpy from lack of sleep and the stress of not knowing where your companions are or, indeed, if they are even still alive ….

Does coffee exist?

By jase
who plays Yuri

Yuri yawns and stretches, trying to get some movement into his joints after a long night of watching and waiting, to no avail. He squints as he blinks at the rising sun with tired bloodshot eyes not yet ready for another day of sunlight. Failing to stiffle another yawn Yuri serves out some leftovers for Laddie, the dog still nameless to him, and gets a drink for himself. Putting some more wood on the fire he has kept lightly burning all night (as something to do) he prepares the fire to heat up anything the others may want.

Another yawn comes with a partner in tow as he sits back down. With tired eyes and hands he searches through his belongings until he leans back with a recorder in his hands.

A sigh is slowly let out before Yuri licks his lips to wet them, and then putting the instrument to his lips he begins to play a slow, sad tune, unaware of the people around him, fixating on the fire before him.

Time to find our friends.

By Joe
who plays Herloch

Herloch wakes up and stretches. Looking up he cannot see a single cloud in the sky. "Well, at least there isn't going to be any rain," is the first thing he says.

Yuri is already awake. He sits next to him and says (about the music), "Hey, that sounds nice." Yuri can't tell if he's being sarcastic or not. "Where'd you learn to do that?"

After Yuri replies (if he does), Herloch continues, "Well, when the others are ready, I say we track our friends as far as we can go and then go around the more swampy parts. Too bad that bird went with them. We could use that little guy."

Troubled Morning

By David
who plays Kerim

At first light, Kerim will rise to pray, then feed & water the animals. He then helps get the fire going with Yuri.

Watching Yuri play the recorder, and his fixed stare at the fire, reminds him that, with the now reduced numbers, they need to keep alert. Looking into the clear sky, he listens for anything that would indicate where the rest of the party are, trying to ignore the tune that Yuri is playing.

After another scan of the campsite and the surrounding terrain, he replies to Herloch "We'll need someone with tracking skills, I assume you can track".

"Anyone else got any better ideas?"

Breakfast

By Ian
who plays Peter

Peter awakes and warms a few slabs of the horse meat for breakfast and then supplements it with cheese and biscuits from their supplies.

The lack of sleep seems to be affecting him and he yawns frequently as he does it. He makes no contribution to the conversation about what they donext, except making a quiet grunt occasionally.
