The Galinian Swamp

In the Swamp - Travel through the worst four miles of the swamp is along an artificial causeway, made of stones, logs and brushwood. The causeway was obviously built some time ago and there are signs of wear and tear, in the worst places these have been repaired fairly recently. The causeway is useable by pedestrians, animals and hand or pony carts but is not suitable for use by horse or ox drawn carts or wagons. In the middle of the causeway is a semi artificial island, surrounded by light scrub and weeds and across one end is a felled tree trunk. Standing by the tree trunk is a group of reptilian humanoids, who are armed with shields and spiked clubs. One of the small islands of reeds and scrub that are fairly common in the swamp can be seen to a few hundred yards away. Click here for a map. The reptilians are The people of the Gila, who originally built and now maintain the causeway. They have a document giving them the right to charge a toll for all people and beasts of burden crossing the causeway.

There is a scroll in the Tas Bardon Library containing Peter Gasgano's observations on the local environment.

The toll is one silver piece per head of traffic (animal or  human).
